A new survey of tourists in Thailand this season revealed that those happiest to be visiting the tropical country are travelers from the U.S.
Long known for their enthusiasm, new data from Super Poll showed that Americans had the most positive feelings about their stay in the country.
The survey asked 831 people, all of whom visited Thailand between Nov. 1 and Dec. 8 of this year, how happy they were with their visit on a scale of 1-10. The overall score was 7.62 or “quite happy,” reported Bangkok Post.
However, Americans provided the highest average happiness score of 7.68, with Europeans following at 7.60, Chinese visitors at 7.41, and ASEAN tourists at 7.24.
Visitors favorite things about the “land of smiles” were: tourist attractions at 82.8 percent, nature at 79.7 percent, food safety at 79.1 percent, and — more randomly — economic growth at 77.5 percent, and the quality of utilities and infrastructure (such as airports, transit, and mobile networks) at 77.2 percent.
