Tourists amazed by Thailand’s indigenous cabling

Tourist cable selfies are all the rage.
Tourist cable selfies are all the rage.

Forget the idyllic islands, nightlife, friendly souls and bogus stories, people around the world love our exposed cabling.

Photos of two lovely tourists in Phuket posing in front of a rat’s nest of tangled cables, the kind we duck under without a thought, went viral on Twitter today, as the pair marveled at something they claimed to have never seen before.

“The tourists were so excited,” User Tomme who tweeted the photos said. “They said they have never seen anything like this before and they’ve been to many countries. I am speechless.”

In Thailand we shrug at the danger of exposed wiring choking every walkway, but it’s nice to see it going appreciated. After all electrocution somehow seems to kill more elephants than people, and undergrounding it all is quite expensive.

The photos have been retweeted over 5,000 times since this morning.
