A visitor from China has been arrested on suspicion of killing a 41-year-old woman while driving through northern Thailand yesterday.
A speeding car with Chinese plates struck a motorcycle whose rider jumped clear on a Chiang Rai road at high speed, according to witnesses, before crashing into another motorcycle and killing the woman riding it.
Police took into custody a Chinese national identified only as “Chen” for questioning.
The victim’s name was not disclosed, but she is believed to have worked at a provincial hospital.
The other motorcyclist, 30-year-old Phayuha Ninpho, said he saw the car coming right at him, so he leaped clear moments before the car hit his bike.
Chinese tourists can legally drive their vehicles into the kingdom, Khaosod English reported.
