Tourism and Sport Minister Somsak Pureesrisak said yesterday that his department is working on the development of a new, Tourist Case Division. This new agency will oversee any trials that involve foreign visitors to the country.

Somsak also said he would be meeting with diplomats from 17 European countries this month to discuss additional tourist safety measures. To see to tourist safety, the Minister proposed the creation of the new Tourist Case division, which will fall under the jurisdiction of the Court of Justice.

This, he said, will help hasten trials and aid the involved foreigners in getting back to their home countries quicker. Aside from the Tourism department, three other agencies will also be involved in the new division, the Nation reported.
