Top comment of harmless social media challenge gets Thailand shoutout

A young boy went viral through a social media challenge he posted on Instagram – but not because of the challenge itself, rather the top comment that followed it.

Young boy Reed Harrington, whose content is filled with him exercising through challenges he made on social media, posted a video to his followers on the tail end of September. For the challenge, the 7th grader said that he will do whatever the top comment says once he reaches 200,000 followers.

“Okay, when I hit 200,000 followers, I’ll do whatever the top comment says on this video and post it,” Harrington said.

Soon after, commenter fiven9nekid gave him a comment that, as of right now, has over 2,375,000 likes, eclipsing the 1.3 million likes on the video.

“Fly to a small town in Thailand, get accepted by their people, learn the language, train in Muay Thai for a year and a half, fight in a tournament, win the tournament, return to the USA and join the UFC, stay in shape and go undefeated in your weight class, retire and do an interview saying this comment was the reason you fought so hard,” he replied.

Although the post was made near the end of September, Harrington currently has over 290 thousand followers, validating the challenge.

Thai social media users began noticing the viral comment this past week, including popular Thai blog CatDumb when they covered the story.

The video continues to receive comments regarding Thailand to this day.

Among the most recent comments, some have offered to help fund the boy’s trip so he could make good on the challenge.

“Please tag me when he goes to Thailand,” reads one of the dozens of similar comments posted today.

“I’ll pay for the Thailand ticket,” Kushpapi commented.

“Hi, I am a Muay Thai coach from Thailand. Among the important people I have trained: Jackie Chan, Daniel LaRusso and Goku, if you are interested contact me,” joked another.

It remains to be seen if the kid is going to do just that, but judging from the numerous daily videos of him squatting, anything is possible.
