The Commerce Ministry has cited Thailand’s hot weather as an essential factor underpinning high egg prices, saying chickens do not produce the same amount of eggs in summer, thereby causing a drop in the country’s egg supply.
Commerce Deputy Minister Nattawut Saikua said prices of eggs have been high due to this decreased supply. He added that the Ministry would speedily draw up measures to help compensate both producers and consumers.
The Deputy Minister said that he expects the weather to cool down during June and July. By then, he added, there will be a greater egg supply and prices will be driven downward.
