An internal letter issued by by the Metropolitan Police Bureau reminding officers to dress appropriately circulated across Thai media over the weekend due to one bullet point — cops are now banned from wearing sunglasses on duty.

Aside from dressing sharply and keeping their hair trimmed, the letter dated March 2 warned policemen that “wearing glasses on duty is forbidden.” The new rule was thought of by Pol. Gen. Chalermkiat Sriworakan, a deputy chief of the Royal Thai Police.

Pol. Gen. Chalermkiat said that sunglasses are not the police uniform and he’s seen some officers sporting flashy lenses which he thought were “inappropriate,” Thai News Agency reported.

He added that sunglasses also obstruct citizens from seeing the officers’ faces clearly.

Well, considering the history of corruption in Thailand, isn’t wearing sunglasses the least of your worry, Chalermkiat?
