Three Myanmar nationals arrested at forgery house, one possibly linked to Erawan Shrine bombing

A raid on a commercial building in Tak province yesterday ended in the arrest of three Myanmar nationals — one believed to have ties to the Erawan shrine bombing in August of last year that left dozens dead and a hundred injured.

Three Myanmar nationals, a man and two women, have been arrested in a raid at a commercial building in Mae Sot district of Tak.

The male suspect thought to have ties to the bombing was brought to Bangkok for questioning today.

The police raided the building after getting a tip that the place was used to make fake passports and might possibly play a role in human trafficking.

The two women arrested, Submit, 32, and Rahebi, 23, were taken into custody for illegal entry.

The man, Kwak Ti Ha, 43, was charged with sheltering illegal migrants.

The three Myanmar nationals pled guilty to the charges, reported Thai PBS.

Kwak has since been additionally charged by the Armed Forces Security Center, which suspects him of making fake passports for suspects involved in the bombing. Although one officer denied this to a reporter from Khaosod English.

Many warrants have been issued for the blast at Erawan last year but, so far, only two people, Meiraili Yusufu and Bilal Mohammed, have been arrested.
