Three kilos of meth seized at Suvarnabhumi Airport

Methamphetamines capture in an early-2013 bust

The Customs Department has seized over three kilograms of crystal meth, better known as “ya ice,” from a woman who was attempting to smuggle the drug out of Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport.

According to the Customs Department, the THB11 million stash of drugs was found on a female passenger identified as Salinee Phuang-nin who was traveling to Vientiane. The drug was hidden in her suitcase.

An official said the arrest owed to an intelligence report, which claimed a female passenger would be trying to smuggle illicit substances out of Suvarnabhumi. The officials then undertook random searches of passengers and found Salinee who had come from Delhi and was awaiting a flight transfer.

Salinee denied all charges and says the suitcase belongs to one of her relatives who asked her to deliver it to a Nigerian living in Thailand.
