Three women were injured when the ceiling collapsed into the exhibition zone at Central Pinklao shopping mall yesterday afternoon.
The ceiling on the fifth floor, the top floor in the open plan mall, which was under construction, collapsed onto the ground floor car display. Luckily, the three shoppers only received minor injuries from being hit by small parts of the ceiling and were released from medical care later in the day. They were identified as Jiraporn Jitsintunan, Somuedee Chonsomjai, and Chanthana Ruengdech, Bangkok Biz News reported.
Four cars in the exhibition zone were damaged.
Police took construction workers for questioning to find out the cause for the ceiling collapse. The case is currently under investigation.
Central Pattana Plc., the company which operates the shopping mall, said it took responsibility for the damages, according to Bangkok Post.
