Thousands of cars get the boot from police

Hot on the heels of the last seasonal parking crackdown to fizzle, police have launched a new crackdown to solve Bangkok’s traffic problems.

Under a new campaign by the Metropolitan Police Bureau, nearly 2,500 vehicles parked illegally on the streets of Bangkok were fitted with handsome new tire locks in one day yesterday on the Phra Arthit, Lan Luang, Petchaburi, Rajdamri and Silom roads.

Police Gen. Wuthi Liptapallop, Royal Thai Police adviser, said police normally only boot the wheels of 30 to 50 cars daily. The official results of the parking project will be analysed and announced on Friday, Kapook reported.
