THB6 million in counterfeit goods confiscated in Pathumwan District bust

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has confiscated more than THB6 million worth of counterfeit brand name products from a famous department store in Bangkok’s Pathumwan District.

DSI Director General Tharit Pengdit, together with several officials from the Intellectual Property Right Infringement Suppression Division, announced the success of the operation at a press conference, in which 4,000 items of confiscated products such as clothing, jeans and belt buckets were put on display for the media.

Mr. Tharit said Pathumwan District has long been marked by authorities as a “red zone,” with high amounts of property right violations and widespread counterfeit products. He said the infamous trade has negatively impacted the nation’s economy.

In the raid, officials also arrested business operators found guilty of violating the law and charged with possessing products with misleading labels.
