THB30 movie tickets program to be launched next year

Kantana Group, a film and television production company, said it is launching a new project called “Community Cinema” that will offer low-cost movies to remote districts.

The CEO of Kantana, Jaruek Kallajaruek, said his company aims to create an affordable yet high-standard entertainment experience for Thais in small districts. Jaruek added that Kantana hopes the program will reduce piracy.

The THB30 price is calculated from ten percent of the average Thai’s minimum wage.

Although Community Cinema will offer movie goers cheaper tickets, some movies will appear in larger theaters first.

Kantana said it is the first company to start a cinema franchise model in Asia.

One thousand low-cost cinemas are expected to be built within next year, Khaosod reported.
