Thais gather at Siriraj Hospital in support of ailing HM King Bhumibol

Hundreds of Thais have gathered at Siriraj Hospital this afternoon where HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej is undergoing treatment for blood purification.

Concerned citizens are waiting to hear an update on the condition of their 88-year-old monarch at the hospital since the palace has not issued any updates since Sunday. At that time, they indicated that HM the King’s condition was “unstable” following a hemodialysis treatment.

Many people wore pink, HM the King’s favorite color, and held up pictures of their beloved monarch, who has been the figure that unifies Thai citizens amidst much political turmoil over the last several years.

Others were seen praying to the the statue of Mahidol Adulyadej, the father of HM King Bhumibol, in hopes the miracles will improve his illness.

Online, the #LongLiveTheKing hashtag has reached Thailand’s top trending thought on Twitter as citizens write message of support and prayers for his recovery.
