Thais evacuated from Nepal arrive in Bangkok

A Royal Thai Air Force C-130 transport and Thai Airways’ jet landed at Bangkok airports just hours ago carrying 102 Thais who wanted to come home from Nepal.

Their arrival added to the 38 Thai tourists flown into Suvarnabhumi Airport at 11pm last night on board Thai Airways’  flight TG3209 from Kathmandu to the warm welcome of family after they survived the cataclysmic 7.9-magnitude quake.

Pattaporn Pirakul, 46, said she was on touring in Nepal and after the quake had to sleep in the streets or an empty field. After waiting for 10 hours at the airport, she said she was beyond happy to come home.

Another Thai tourist Supawat Yamprasert from Nakhon Sri Thammarat broke down into tears as he spoke of his life-or-death moment watching people run for their lives. Supawat said he is still traumatized as he watched some of those people die.

Sixty-four more Thais arrived early this morning aboard the army transport aircraft which had flown to Nepal to drop off teams of volunteer Thai doctors and rescue teams to help aid Nepal yesterday morning, Thairath and Daily News reported.
