Don’t be confused if you hear Thai friends say “Be right back, I gotta take Sushi to his doctor appointment,” or “Do you think I should find a mate for my Latte soon?”

They would be talking about their dogs.

Here are the top 10 Thai names for pet dogs, according to a survey by Talingchan Animal Hospital:

With food and luck being a big part of Thai culture, they are passed on to the pets as the top ten dog names are Cocoa, Angpao, Lucky, Sushi, Fattie, Latte, Chaokuay (Grass jelly), Gegee, and Kola.

The hospital added other several popular names revolve around food and drinks: Coffee, Milo, Ovaltine, O-liang, Kopi, Kaolat (chestnut), Tofu, Pipo.

Besides ‘Lucky’, locals also seem to think it’s a great idea to just turn their dog to valuable objects with names like Golden Bag, Silver Bag, Count Money, Dollar, Euro, and Yuan.

Celebrities who should be proud of their fans’ devotion include: Beyonce, Messi, Ronaldo, Owen, Rooney, Tono, Joey, and Jamesji.

Driven from Japanese and Korean influences, manga and Korean series names make the list:  Kendo, Kenji, Kenta, Kuma, Candy, Taeyeon, and Yunjae.

Other than that, the hospital also reported weird names for dogs that they cannot explain: Kitty, Grouper, Tilapia, Black & White, Happiness, Love, and Liar.
