The Nation is reporting that Thailand’s power consumption has peaked for the second time this year.
According to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, an unusually hot afternoon caused the country to use approximately 26,598 megawatts worth of electricity at 2pm yesterday. This amount flies dangerously close to Thailand’s installed generating capacity of 30,000 megawatts. The Authority is currently working to bolster this amount, but has warned citizens in the mean time to reduce their electricity consumption and have their appliances serviced regularly in order to keep their consumption to a minimum.
This is the second time this year that Thailand’s electricity consumption has peaked. The first instance occurred on March 28, when Thai citizens consumed 26,423 megawatts of electricity.
