It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas up in northern Thailand.
In the past two days, campers on Doi Inthanon, the kingdom’s highest mountain peak, have been waking up to a frosty morning, as temperatures have dropped below zero for the first time this year.
Doi Inthanon National Park authorities announced on their Facebook page yesterday that the temperature at Kiew Mae Pan, the peak of the peak (see what we did there) in Chiang Mai province, dropped to -1 degrees Celsius in the morning.
Pictures from the mountain flood social media every year as flocks of tourists and locals alike flock to the peak to snap pictures and take in the frosty ambiance.
If you’re planning to join the throngs headed up to see it for yourself, we’ll note that sub-zero temperature came at night. During the day today, Kiew Mae Pan was enjoying a balmy 6 degrees Celsius despite its famous fog.
