Junyi Huang, who arrived in Bangkok from Guangzhou, China, on Dec. 5, was greeted at Suvarnabhumi Airport with a welcoming ceremony since she was the 30 millionth visitor to Thailand this year.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) launched their “Thailand’s luckiest visitor” campaign in 2015 in order to entice more foreigners to visit the country. Every millionth visitor to Thailand from June to December of last year received a special welcoming ceremony and rewards. The TAT brought the campaign back this year, reported Global Travel Tourist News.
Because of her 30 millionth status, Huang enjoyed a limousine ride from the airport to her accommodation in Bangkok. She also received two economy-class return tickets to Thailand, which are valid for a year, and a voucher for a five-night stay in one of Thailand’s luxury hotels in Bangkok, Pattaya or Hua Hin. She was also given a mobile phone with a 4G sim card and seven days of internet usage as well as a certificate naming her as “Thailand’s Luckiest Visitor – The Amazing, Smashing Success.”
As this year’s high season has kicked off, Thai authorities have attempted a few initiatives to bring more tourists, such as one promotion aimed at Chinese tourists and another that offers free tourist visa fees for all nationalities.
