Thailand suspends visas on arrival for Chinese, Russians, 17 others nationalities

Update March 13: After an urgent Thursday meeting, officials took back the order.

The government today approved new measures to try to contain spread of the coronavirus including the halt of visas on arrivals for 19 nations including China, India and Russia. 

Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha ordered Wednesday visa waivers suspended for Hong Kong, Italy and South Korea while suspending visas on arrival for the 19 nations. 

The order will remain in effect until the coronavirus outbreak is deemed under control.

  7. Georgia
  8. India
  9. Kazakhstan
  10. Malta
  11. Nauru
  12. Papua New Guinea

  15. Saudi Arabia
  16. China
  17. Taiwan
  18. Uzbekistan
  19. Vanuatu
