Another 9 cases were reported by public health officials on Wednesday, while the death toll stood at 54.
The COVID-19 task force said Wednesday morning that Thailand saw another nine infections, bringing the total to 2,947 since January.
Of the nine, three were detected in Bangkok, with another three in Phuket. Two were health care workers and one is still being investigated.
Specific plans to relax certain lockdown measures will be announced by Friday, according to Taweesilp Wissanuyothin of the Disease Control Department.
Asked by reporters whether the ban on alcohol sales that will continue in May, Taweesilp said the task force hasn’t reached a conclusion. He said it mostly depends on each province under the state of emergency, which gives absolute power to local authorities.
