Thailand reports 7 new coronavirus infections, fewest since mid-March

Health officials today said they detected the fewest new coronavirus infections in the past 24 hours than at any time in the past month – but another two fatalities.

The seven new cases reported by the COVID-19 task force make for a total of 2,938 confirmed infections and 54 fatalities since the outbreak began. Pinning down actual numbers remains difficult due to very limited testing.

Of the seven new cases, three were detected in Bangkok.

Taweesilp Wissanuyothin of Disease Control Department said that although the number has fallen under 10 in the past two days, people still should not be reckless until a vaccine have been successfully developed.

Today the cabinet is expected to give the final word on what business activities may resume following the past week’s declining daily reports of new infections.

This is a developing story and may be updated without notice.
