Thailand is expected to welcome more than 14,000 domestic and international flights now through the end of Songkran.

The nation’s air traffic operator forecast an average of slightly more than 2,000 flights per day, a two-thirds increase compared to the same period last year, when air travel was just resuming and festival celebrations limited by public health precautions.

Nopposit Chakrapitak of Aeronautical Radio said those numbers still fall short of the high-flying, pre-pandemic days when arrivals averaged 3,000 flights. Therefore, travel infrastructure should have no trouble handling the busy holiday travel season, he noted, adding that measures were taken to prevent any delays.
