Thailand announced last night the end of its mask mandate, effective immediately.
The Royal Gazette on Thursday night announced that wearing a face mask to prevent the spread of COVID-19 would be up to people on a “voluntary basis.”
However, health officials still “recommend” wearing masks indoors and in areas with poor ventilation and large crowds.
One place masks will still be required is on some forms of transportation. The BTS Skytrain announced this morning that passengers are still required to wear a face mask at all times when they’re on board.
The order went on to say that those with high-risk health problems, especially congenital respiratory diseases, should still wear a mask.
The order came one week after the COVID-19 task force announced the mandate would be dropped without giving a specific date.
