Thailand launches bid for space tech supremacy

Yes, you read that headline correctly.

Thailand is grooming the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) to become a geo-informatics and space technology development center in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region.

The agency plans to achieve this goal by partnering with the private sector to develop and research new innovations that will boost the industry’s growth. In addition to these partnerships, GISDA is also eyeing the creation of a learning center and training institute.

Here, they will be producing more postgraduates (master and doctorate degrees) from different fields, making it more competitive.

GISDA has given the private and public sectors high resolution satellite images and Geo-informatics services as samples of their work. According to the National News Agency of Malaysia, more resources are also available at the Space Park located at the Chonburi province in Thai East.
