Thailand will hold a party next week to thank everyone involved in the Luang Cave rescue — the mission dubbed “impossible” that successfully evacuated 13 young men from the flooded cave.

The Prime Minister’s Office announced over the weekend that the party “United As One” will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 1, between 6pm and 9pm at the Royal Plaza, an outdoor public square in Bangkok.

The party, which is expected to draw as many as 10,000 attendees, is meant to signify the unity of people of different nationalities and religions. As you might have guessed from the location, this will be a casual cocktail event, with different food booths set up across the square.

The long guest list includes the cabinet as well as everyone who had a role in the operation, no matter how small. This includes the international divers, soldiers, police officers, ambassadors, volunteers, media, and local Chiang Rai people who provided support such as free laundry, haircuts, and massages on site.

The family of former SEAL Saman Kunan, who died while placing oxygen tanks along the cave’s submerged escape path, will also be invited.

Guests who live outside of Bangkok will be provided with transportation and accommodation.
