In May, Bangkok celebrated the International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia, more easily called IDAHOT, with a weeklong event discussing the state of Bangkok’s LGBTI scene and expressing its pride.
One central topic at the UNESCO-sponsored event was how the Thai capital lived up to its reputation as a tolerant and open society embracing the full spectrum of sexual identity.
“While Thailand is justifiably celebrated for its openness and the important strides it has made in recognizing LGBTI rights, millions continue to face discrimination, inequality and exclusion,”
UNESCO spokesman Noel Boivin said.
Not to spoil the video, but the answer seems to be “kinda yes, kinda no.”
