All foreigners can breathe easier through the end of July after the cabinet extended immigration-relief measures through the end of July.
It approved a proposal to extend automatic visa extensions put in place earlier this month until July 31 in a bid to prevent crowding at offices during a time the public is urged to keep its distance to curb the spread of COVID-19.
“This means that foreigners whose visas had expired as from 26 March 2020 will be permitted to stay until 31 July 2020 without having to apply for an extension,” the government press agency said in a bulletin.

Health officials today reported another 15 cases and one death, making for 2,826 infections and 49 fatalities since the outbreak began.
Prior to April 7, foreign residents and tourists were crowding immigration offices to extend their stays or satisfy mandatory reporting requirements, giving rise to complaints they were endangering public health.
The extensions also apply to foreign nationals holding border passes, typically workers from neighboring countries, but they must depart within a week of the borders reopening.
