Thailand doubles down in wins at AFF Futsal Championship

Thailand followed up its 20-1 weekend victory over the Philippines in their first match with an 8-1 win over Brunei in last night’s AFF Futsal Championship match at Thonburi University Stadium.

Thailand opened the scoring in the first minute, but Brunei replied seconds later to stun the Thai fans.

Jetsada Chudech gave Thailand the lead in the seventh minute, and goals from Suphawut (10) and Kritsada Wongkaeo (10) made it 4-1.

Two quick goals from Nawin Rattanawongswa (18) and Patchaya Srimanta (18) gave the host nation a 6-1 halftime lead.

Kritsada Wongkaeo (30) and Jirawat Sorwichian (32) sealed the comprehensive victory for Thailand, but coach Vic Hermans believes his team lacked killer instincts in front of the goal.

“Obviously we need to improve on this,” he said. “Creating chances are not good enough if we can’t put them away. We need to be more sharp.”

Thailand will play Malaysia at 7pm tonight in their third Group B game at Thonburi University Stadium.
