The Thai division of media tracking company ACNielsen is reporting that by the end of the year, almost every single household in Thailand will have a TV.
Thailand’s TV ownership numbers have been impressive for some time, with 92.8% of households reporting TV ownership in 2008. Since then, the calming glow of televised entertainment has only further saturated Thailand’s media landscape.
By the end of the year, Nielsen expects 99.6% of Thai households to have access to TV. In rural areas, TV ownership will eclipse 99%, while in Bangkok proper, TV ownership is expected to hover close to 100%.
The Bangkok Post reports that even though consumers have turned increasingly to smartphones, tablets and computers as their preferred content delivery method, TV remains the choice of the litter.
