Thai worker killed by mortar attack in Israel

A Thai farm worker was killed in a mortar attack yesterday in Israel.

Narakorn Kitiyangkul, 36, became the third civilian killed in the 16 days of conflict, according to the Jerusalem Post.

“We feel deep sadness by the death of the migrant worker,” said Yair Farjoun, head of the local council. “We were prepared for the possibility that there would be loss of life. We send our condolences to the victim’s family and continue to give our backing to the IDF and the security forces.”

Narakorn was working in a greenhouse in the city of Ashkelon, just north of the Gaza strip, when a mortar struck the building.

Since earlier this month, the fighting has killed nearly 700 Palestinians and 32 Israeli soldiers.

Narakorn was flown by the Israeli military from the farm in the south where he worked to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The 36-year-old man came from Nan province, according to The Nation.
