Thailand secured an overwhelming victory over Mongolia to end their round robin preliminaries in second place to Kazakhstan in Pool A in the 17th Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship at the Chaichai Hall yesterday.
With the 25-12 25-9 25-5 win in a totally onesided encounter, Thailand have collected six points, while Kazakhstan continued their remarkable unbeaten run with a 3-1 (25-16 25-15 24-26 25-18) victory over Australia to top the pool with nine points.
Both Kazakhstan and Thailand advanced to the last eight, where they will join Japan and Vietnam (Pool C winners and runnersup) in the Pool E roundrobin competition.
Thailand reshuffled their pack against Mongolia. Teenager Thatdao Nuekjang replaced experienced Amporn Hyapha and the team’s short, the Nation reported.
