UPDATE: As of press time, the pet owner had comforted her neighbors and announced, on her Facebook page, that they didn’t take the puppy. She is still searching for the missing puppy.
This one’s a bit of a heart-breaking story, especially for you animal lovers out there.
A Thai pet owner recently shared her personal account of neighbors who have allegedly stolen her adopted puppy due to its “annoying” barks.
In her Facebook post, the woman — whose profile only shows the name “Fiw Feaw smile” — explains that she had just taken in a homeless puppy, which she found fearfully wandering the streets alone, the day before it went missing. On the day that the incident occurred, she said, she had to leave the house and chose to leave the puppy outdoors, though still within the gates of her house, like many working metropolitan pet owners do.
However, when she returned, the dog was gone. Instead, she found a sign taped on to her front door that read: “I’m annoyed of your dog’s barks.”
She swiftly filed a police report regarding the missing pooch, then took to social media to drum up some public support for finding the missing dog that same day.
Writing on her timeline yesterday morning, the woman explained that, following her report, police officers have said that they will follow up on her case by searching for the missing dog and interrogating suspects. Additionally, she has forwarded the case to Watchdog Thailand.
She also makes a plea for help to the general public, saying: “If you see the puppy, please return it. I don’t know if they killed it or abandoned it somewhere already.”
“Just coming inside my gates without permission is illegal enough … you messed with the wrong girl, buddy,” the pet owner also wrote.
Her post has already received widespread attention, particularly from animal-loving netizens. In just over a day, it has been shared across Facebook over 5,000 times. Many commenters have even checked back in to see if the dog has been found yet.
“They can be charged with burglary and animal cruelty. Don’t give up looking!” wrote one user.
“Check the CCTV around that area,” another recommends.
Perhaps with so many netizens expressing support, next time a potential puppy snatcher will think twice before taking pets out of their homes without permission.
