Thai wheelchair racer wins silver medal in World Para Athletics Championships

Thai wheelchair racer Pongsakorn Paeyo won a silver medal yesterday in a T53 wheelchair race in the World Para Athletics Championships 2017, held in London.

Pongsakorn, the wheelchair racer from Khon Kaen who grabbed two gold and two silver medals from 2016 Paralympics in Brazil, won the silver medal in the male 200-meter T53 wheelchair race this year, Thai News Bureau reported.

He lost to Canadian rival Brent Lakatos by split seconds.

Disabled at birth, Pongsakorn, 20, began training for wheelchair sports since he was 13 years old.

Another Thai male wheelchair racer Rawat Tana finished in fourth place in the 1,500-meter T54 race, while Saichon Konjen finished at ninth place.
