Thai volleyball team hope to please home fans

The Thai women’s volleyball team, who failed to qualify for the World Grand Prix Finals in Japan later this year, have vowed to try their best to beat Puerto Rico and Germany at the third and final preliminary round of the 2013 World Grand Prix at Indoor Stadium, Hua Mark which starts today.

Thailand will play Puerto Rico today, Germany tomorrow and Russia on Sunday with all matches scheduled for 4pm.

Somporn Chaibangyang, president of the Volleyball Association of Thailand is hoping Thailand can salvage some pride in front of their own fans

“It is impossible for us to qualify for the finals, but we want to please our own fans” he said.

Somporn said Thailand were good enough to beat Puerto Rico and Germany but admitted that it would be difficult for his players to get a point against Russia.
