Thai students have taken top honors in the World RoboCup 2013 contest, which pits more than 2,500 contestants from 40 nations against each other in a battle for robotic supremacy.

The Thai team, from King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, earned plaudits in the RoboCup Rescue category, in addition to walking away with the coveted Best Mobility Award. RoboCup takes place each year in Eindhoven, located in the Netherlands.

The Bangkok Post helpfully points out that the Thai team beat competition from the US, UK, Japan and Germany in order to gain its position of distinction.
