Eight students from top high schools for smart kids won medals at the Asian Physics Olympiad competition in Hangzhou, China.
The students brought home two gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal from the event, along with two honorary distinctions as they solved some tough physics problems, according to Pornpun Waitayangkoon, President of the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology.
Seven winners, including the gold medalists, are from the renowned Triam Udom Suksa Pattanakarn and Mahidol Wittayanusorn schools. One student from Yothinburana School picked up a silver medal.
The physics aces have been mentored by professors from the institute as well as Mahidol University, King Mongkut’s University of Technology at Thonburi and the Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School.
The team were met at Suvarnabhumi Airport yesterday by a welcoming ceremony held at the airport, state media reported.
