Thai police arrested a 64-year-old Swiss national at his home outside of Bangkok yesterday, a man they labeled a “world’s top 10” collector of child pornography.

Christean Python was detained in Lamlukka district of Pathum Thani province, where he lived with his Thai wife, after police allegedly found 248 videos containing child pornography on his desktop computer.

Police said the sickening videos feature children as young as 4 years old.

The arrest was carried out following a request from Thailand Internet Crimes Against Children (TICAC), a Thai police unit that shares information with the U.S. National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Police said the suspect was identified by the U.S. as owning one of the largest collections of child pornography in the world, INN News reported.

Python, who had been living in Thailand for 20 years, was charged with possession of child pornography, which is punishable by five years in prison and/or a fine of THB100,000 (about $US3,100).

Python told police he has been housebound for 11 years after suffering from an unidentified accident, so began downloading and watching child pornography to “relieve himself from stress,” according to Thairath. Uh huh.

While he had denied posting the videos online, police confiscated his laptop and will investigate if he passed on or sold any of the material to others, which would bring an additional charge of human trafficking.
