When the World’s Fair opens in Milan next year, one can find Thailand’s pavilion by looking for the giant ngob.
The iconic Lanna-style hat was the inspiration for the pavilion, the design for which by The Office of Bangkok Architects has been selected for the 2015 World’s Fair in Milan, Italy.
To reflect the exposition’s theme of “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life,” the firm incorporated the hat often associated with Thai farmers as well as aquatic elements.
A canal will run beside the pavilion, which will also include Naga imagery and a rice-field spanning walkway for visitors to cross.
Temple walls influenced the design of the pavilion’s interior brick design, according to Arch Daily.
The exposition will run from May 1, 2015 to October 31, 2015. More images for the planned pavilion below:
