Recently on a popular Thai TV show called The Mask Singer, in which famous singers perform behind masks while the audience tries to try to figure out who they are, a guy performed — to much delight — in a nerdy plaid suit with a big, smelly durian on his head.
The guy turned out to be Tom, of the band Room39, but let’s get back to the durian.
Now, the Commerce Ministry wants to convince the singer to come and work for them, wearing a durian on his head in hopes that it will convince more people to eat the stinky, yet delicious, “king of fruits.”
The Workpoint TV show is based on a similar show that started in South Korea. Tom has not yet confirmed if he will take the ministry up on their offer to be the “head” durian spokesman, but if he does, we hope he has a really strong shampoo to wash the smell out of his hair.
