The Royal Thai Navy said late Thursday afternoon that a suspected perv in its ranks would be charged with violating military discipline after he was accused of secretly filming women using the toilet at a naval hospital – for over six years.

Admiral Somprasong Nilsamai condemned “such conduct” after Lt. Col. Kietikorn Mangkang was arrested by the police, who said his hidden cameras were discovered in the restrooms of the Queen Sirikit Naval Hospital in Chonburi province.

“There are still some people who misbehave, hurting public confidence,” he said after listing navy good deeds and praising his “hard working” sailors. “I condemn such conduct, and he will be punished to the utmost to maintain our honor, and the honor of the people’s brothers and sisters forever!”

Last month alone, 23 women came forward to complain to Lt. Col. Ekachai Mullee of Chonburi provincial police that they were spied on in the restroom of the hospital’s IT department. Those filmed were female government officials employed there, including their daughters, some younger than 15.

The hospital is located near navy headquarters in Sattahip.

A search of the restrooms found secret cameras with wires leading to a computer belonging to 54-year-old Kietikorn.

In that computer were 4TB of hard drives containing more than 6,000 clips of women using the restroom, with files dating as far back as 2015, police said, adding that one such clip showed Kietikorn adjusting the camera.

Why was one also found in the men’s restroom? It was determined that a late-night female officer used the men’s room because it’s the only one with a shower.

It wasn’t clear why this went unnoticed for as long as it did. Lt. Col. Ekachai said the first complaints were lodged Jan. 7. Kietikorn was immediately detained to prevent him from destroying the evidence.

Kietikorn’s photo was included in an archived version of the hospital’s IT staff, but although it remains on its server, it no longer appears on the page.

He’s been hit with three charges including indecent acts against minors, those 15 and up, and sexual harrassment.

One victim told reporters that she was completely saddened by the whole ordeal and fears the clips might have gone online.

Police investigators are reviewing the evidence to figure out who was filmed, and whether the clips were uploaded to the internet.
