Bajrakiyabha, 44 and known colloquially Princess Pa, was taken for treatment at a local hospital before being transported by helicopter to King Chulalongkorn Hospital in Bangkok. The hospital has put out books for visitors to write messages wishing the princess well.
Amborn Ambaro heads the Supreme Sangha Council, which governs Buddhist monks in Thailand. In 2017, he became the first supreme patriarch to be appointed directly by King Vajiralongkorn.
Rumors continue to circulate about the princess’ condition in chat groups and online message boards, but they have gone unreported due to the authorities’ aggressive interpretation of the lese majeste law, which can punish any perceived insult of the royal family by up to 15 years in prison.
