A Thai man was true to his word — more or less — that he would run through the streets of Thailand naked if Liverpool were to beat Barcelona in last night’s soccer game.

Liverpool indeed won, and while Panya Sainet didn’t quite get naked, he did strip down to a nifty neon orange Speedo that left little to the imagination, then filmed himself taking a lap around an intersection in the wee hours of the morning.

“People like me are true to our word, bitches,” he can be heard saying in a Facebook video he posted, before charging down the empty road, the location of which was not immediately clear.

Panya first made the promise in another video posted prior to the start of the game.

“Let me tell you, if Liver (Liverpool) plays Barca (Barcelona) and beats them… If they manage to make it into the finals… I promise I will run through the red light naked, you assholes,” he said in a video featuring energy levels that would put hyperventilating and recently Facebook-banned rightwinger Alex Jones to shame.

A bit of casual Facebook stalking suggests that Panya is a regular soccer fan who often posts opinionated videos about trending matching and teams.

“What did I get myself into. Liverpool crushed it,” Panya wrote on his Facebook timeline after the match.

“Fu*k me,” the enthusiastic user of curse words added shortly after.

Refusing to back down, Panya documented his streaking journey via a series of Facebook posts – although we’ll again note that he did not go completely bare.

Before embarking on his midnight lap, Panya can be seen praying to a hand-written sign that reads “Liverpool 4-0.”

“I pray to you so one day I can be as magnificent as you,” he says after paying his respects.

Unsurprisingly, Panya’s video quickly went viral, earning more than 1 million views in less than 10 hours.

“How unlike this uncle in my country. He’s been around for five years and hasn’t kept a single promise,” Facebook user Pusit Sirikaew commented, taking a not-particularly-subtle jab at junta leader Prayuth Chan-o-cha.

At least one viewer was less than impressed, however, suggesting the late hour was a bit of a cheat.

“Why didn’t you do it at 8am? No one’s going to be around to see it at that time of the night,” a somewhat ungenerous Tonchot Rattanakoset wrote.

Nevertheless, we here at Coconuts Bangkok congratulate you, Liverpool fan. Enjoy the celebration, and thanks for keeping those Speedos on.
