A 39-year-old Thai man on Wednesday jumped to his death from a hotel quarantine facility in Pattaya.

Authorities are investigating why Pol Prom-ngam, 39, jumped from a balcony at the Jomtien Palm Beach Hotel and Resort at about 4pm, one day he returned from Tel Aviv, Israel. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pol had worked as a laborer in Israel before arriving via Israir Airlines flight No. 6H691. He checked into the hotel, an approved quarantine facility, along with other 167 returnees.

Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha this morning expressed his condolences to the deceased’s family. He said he would order health officials to fully assist the family in transporting Pol’s body home to Buriram province.
