A Thai lottery ticket seller in northeastern Khon Kaen province hit the jackpot yesterday when three unsold tickets — all bearing the same numbers — earned her a whopping THB18 million (about US$540,000) in prize money.

Bet they’re glad they didn’t make a lot of sales that day.

Today, numerous Khon Kaen-based Facebook pages are sharing a post from the lucky retailers in which they announced their big win.

“The jackpot landed at our own Phon district,” the retailer identified only as Jarunwan writes in the post yesterday.

On top of selling lottery tickets on the side, Jarunwan owns an antique shop outside Ming Muang temple.

After the winning numbers were announced yesterday afternoon, Jarunwan’s neighbor told local media that they heard a loud cheer coming from the lottery seller’s house. Jarunwan told the same neighbor they had won the jackpot before getting in a car with her family and driving off — reportedly not even bothering to turn the lights off in her house first. Not that we can blame her.

The neighbor believes Jarunwan was headed straight to the Government Lottery Office in Bangkok to claim their prize.

Well, damn. How can we get in on that kind of luck?
