It’s been sixteen years since Thai teens had posters of Taiwanese boyband F4 on their bedroom walls, but devoted fans of Jerry Yan never forgot those days. Actually, they just bought a pricey billboard at MRT Silom to wish him a happy 40th birthday.
“Jerry Yan Thailand-Fanclub” has raised funds to buy the advertisement for the star’s birthday, which was on Jan. 1. Now they can take a selfie with the billboard at Bangkok’s most crowded MRT station.

The billboard says “Happy Birthday, Jerry Yan” and will be displayed until Jan. 24.
Jerry Yan is a Taiwanese singer and actor. His leading role as Dao Ming Si in the TV series “Meteor Garden” launched him to international fame in 2001, gaining him fans across Asia. He and his male co-stars formed a boy band called F4, which attained popularity afterwards.

Back in the day, Thai girls were all about F4. The last time we heard, another former member of the band, Ken Chu, was meditating in Chiang Mai. Oh, how the times have changed.
Although kids these days may not remember the day when Mandopop was as popular in Thailand as today’s K-pop, Jerry’s fans have proven that their admiration does not fade with time.
