Thai e-bookseller’s growth plans watered with cash

A popular Thai e-bookseller has received a bundle of cash to fuel its expansion in Southeast Asia.

Ookbee.com, who sell e-books online for digital distribution, has received THB226 million from a Japanese firm in exchange for a 10 percent stake in the company.

Based in Thailand, Ookbee operates in Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore. The company claims its app has been downloaded 6.5 million times.

Looking at its homepage, it seems to mainly traffic in pin-up magazines and poorly drawn manga.
