Why bother with years of training when you can become a licensed cosmetic surgeon in days? It’s not rocket science, after all.
First it was surgery trips for Thais wishing to modify their faces Korean-style, and now Thai doctors are invited to learn how in seven days.
A large number of newly graduated Thai doctors are reportedly skipping years of training by taking a short trip to attend an intensive course on plastic surgery in Korea, says Dr. Chonlathit Sinratchatanon, the president of the Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Association of Thailand.
Several Korean agencies have opened in Thailand to arrange tour packages for Thai doctors who want a fast track to become a plastic surgeon. The intensive course takes only three-to-seven days, with a certificate guaranteed at the end of training.
And the worst part is any type of doctor can take the course and give a nose job in beauty clinics without proper training.
Dr. Chonlathit reveals the reckless Korean trips could ruin the Thai plastic surgeon community and particularly harm countless innocent patients since surgeons are supposed to receive proper training in educational institutes and work in surgery-related jobs for three years, Sanook reported.
