With one week to go in the 27th Southeast Asian Games under way in Myanmar, Thai athletes are on top.
Thailand picked up 12 medals this weekend for a total of 45, putting it seven up on Myanmar with 38. Vietnam is a close third with 36.
Famed Thai weightlifter Pimsiri Sirikaew, who brought home silver from London last year, sweeped weightlifting for three medals.
“I am very happy to win gold although my result was not so great,” she said.
During the weekend, athletes from Thailand defeated their rivals in track and field, weightlifting, karate-do and swimming events, Bangkok Post reported.
