The export of textiles and garments during the first quarter of the year increased by 2.6% to USD3.242 billion (THB99.36 billion), reported the Thailand Textile Institute.
Of the total money acquired, USD898 million came from garment exports, which dropped 5.4% year-on-year. Yarn export, on the other hand, increased to 8.6%, netting USD306 million.
The decrease in garment exports was caused by low demand from European countries; fortunately, the demand for various types of textile products increased in the major markets around Asia, the Nation reported.
